Chapter One Introduction引言

1.1 Research Background研究背景
模糊性,因为是众所周知的,是自然语言的内在特性之一。在语言使用中,人们会找出很多的话,人类的语言的概念有没有特定的扩展。这些类似的概念之间的界限似乎不明确的。Fuzziness, as is well-known, is one of the intrinsic features of the natural language. In language use, people will figure out that the concepts of many words in humanlanguage have no specific extension. The boundaries between these similar conceptsseem not clear-cut. Meanwhile, these words are very common in human languages andthey are unavoidable. Take some daily words for example, "mountain" and “hill,,,‘‘young,,and "old" , “tall,,and "short" and so on. The following questions will occur tous. How high should a mountain be? And from which height on can you refer it to a"mountain" rather than a “hill”? At what age a person can be regarded “old”? How oldthe person is described as "young"? There is not a fixed criterion of these concepts. In theworld we are living in, there are numerous objects or phenomena without sharpboundaries, such as ages, colors, and seasons and so on. Human languages, which reflectthe human thinking, in the same way, are more or less fuzzy in this sense. It is not until the middle of the 20th century, the study of fuzziness has drawn moreand more attention. L. A. Zadeh was the first scholar who put forward the Fuzzy Setstheory ml965, which laid the foundation of the research of fuzziness. According to thefuzzy sets theory, some of the members or concepts are not easily included or excluded inone group; however, they can be regarded to belong to certain group in different degrees.Based on Zadeh's notion of the flizzy sets,https://www.51lunwen.org/news/  a number of new disciplines which are relatedto the flizziness phenomenon came into being, such as, Fuzzy Linguistics, Fuzzy Logicas well as Fuzzy Mathematics.Hedges,as the most universal and typical representation of fuzzy language, havegradually gained popularity in the linguistic study in the recent years. G Lakoff firstintroduced the definition of the “hedge” as a linguistic term in his article Hedges: AStudy in Meaning Criteria and the Logic of Fuzzy Concepts (Lakoff,1972:183-228). Inthis book, he distinguishes the hedges from the linguistic fuzziness, and he regards thewords and phrases that make the meaning fuzzier or less fuzzy are hedges. The typicalexamples are as follows: rather, largely, somewhat, quite, sort of, according to, almost.Since then, the universal phenomenon gradually becomes the focus of the study of flizzylinguistics. Many scholars started to carry out researchers from the angles of semantics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis as well as pragmatics and so on. However, there isstill academic space for people to explore from more perspectives and levels.Up to now, most of the research related with hedges explored the semantic features, motivations, categorization, pragmatic functions and cognitive power as well astranslation and teaching of hedges in scientific discourse and academic articles. Sincelanguage is characterized with fuzziness, then what about news language? It iswell-known that in news reporting, the fundamental requirement of news language isaccuracy. Thus, how can people allow the existence of hedges in it? And how do hedgesachieve its communicative intention? The present research attempts t论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
