EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 执行摘要
There are four main core functions namely marketing, operations, finance and MIS which establish a company’s structure. Operations management is one of key parts leading to the success of an organization. While marketing, finance and MIS functions are responsible for managing sales, flow of money and information respectively, operations function has responsibility for controlling the service and production process. One of the most important elements in operations function is workforce because without direction and manipulation of people, operation process does not work. In addition, people who impact on the success and development of a firm are not resources that can be purchased or copied like materials and machines. In fact, many problems such as employee shortage, job dissatisfaction, low performance and mistakes in recruiting, using and controlling people in home and foreign countries occur in human resource management causing crisis and failure of any organization. In order to solve these issues effectively, what leaders need to do is to satisfy their employees’ requirements, to run hiring process without any mistakes, to conduct professional training course, to give new comers opportunities to reveal their abilities as well as performance, to research, to plan, to assess and to adapt when managing people overseas. Some of these effective solutions can be applied to the operations management of Direct Imex Pty Ltd, an Australian trading company which purchases household products including detergent, softener, etc from Vietnam and Thailand to sell in Australian market. This company has totally three offices in Australia, Vietnam and Thailand. There is no complaint about working conditions and environment in this firm. However, the irrational division of labour has been resulting in employee dissatisfaction and low performance so to deal with these problems, the managers need to evaluate capability of each member, redesign tasks, distribute work fairly and keep justice among employees in all of their three offices. Moreover, this company is planning to import some new products with the origin of Thailand to sell in Australia. In order to maintain smooth operation, the employees in Australia head office should do marketing researches, search information and customs procedures for processing.
