CHAPTER FOUR RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

4.1 Results and Discussion of the Questionnaire

To verify the effect of the application of English reading teaching design basedon English core competencies,the author analyzed the questionnaire data from thetwo classes before and after the experiment by using SPSS 20.0 to demonstratewhether there was a significant difference in students’English core competenciesbetween the two classes,and elaborated on the specific differences.

In September 2021,ninety-eight questionnaires were distributed to students incontrol class and experimental class.As the author explained the requirements foranswering the questions before filling in the questionnaire clearly enough,thestudents filled in the questionnaire cooperatively and truthfully,so all the 98questionnaires collected are valid.There are twenty questions in the questionnaire,question 1 to 5 are about linguistic ability in English core competencies,question 6 to10 are about cultural consciousness in English core competencies,question 11 to 15are about thinking quality in English core competencies,and question 16 to 20 areabout learning ability in English core competencies.The results are as follows.
