摘要:本文是英语论文范文,研究通过对调查问卷进行 SPSS多元回归分析,得出影响学生身份建构的因素。结果表明,班级职务是其进行身份建构的最重要的影响因素。这反映了在初中英语班级中权力至上的现状。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the study
In recent years, study of the relationship between discourse and identity has become a hot topic in the area of sociolinguistics. Both structuralists and poststructuralists insist that a person’s social identity will affect how they use language. At the same time, language use can affect or shape their social identity. The constructions of language and identity are in the formation of social process (Vygotsky, 1979). The present study concentrated on junior high school students’ identity construction in classroom discursive interactions. The significance of the study can be seen from various perspectives. As far as students are concerned, the participants’ identities are lying in the constructing period in their growth unconsciously. It is important to set objectives to be the kind of persons they want to be. Meanwhile, their identities affect how they use language, which is related to their interpersonal relationships. In terms of teachers, the present study may shed some light on different teaching approaches to different kinds of students. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude is connected to helping students construct their appropriate identities. At the same time, there will be a dramatic reform of Senior High School Entrance Exam in 2017. Especially for English, scores of speaking and listening will be greatly increased. It is a challenge for traditional English classes in China. In order to adapt to the reform, English teachers put more emphasis on students’ interactions, which accounted for 50% in each English class. Therefore, it’s helpful to analyze the junior high school’s classroom interactions.

1.2 Purpose of the study
The purposes of the study can be summed up as follows: 1) to summarize the characteristics of the participants’ classroom conversations through an empirical study. On the basis of Conversation Analysis, the study tries to unveil their identity constructions; 2) Besides the empirical study of Conversation Analysis (CA), a dynamic point of view will be explored in the study. The study aims to present the participants’ characteristics of language change during a year and a half; 3) The study also works on searching for factors that may affect the participants’ identity construction in classroom conversations.
