With the reform and opening up, recent years has witnessed Chinese culture’sconfidence and dignity in engaging again with the world and showing a moreproactive spirit. Now the whole nation is in the great process of realizing the ChineseDream of national rejuvenation. Everyone in this new era should bear theresponsibilities of times. This is a great revolution, no less great than the Renaissancein Europe in the Western history. Along with the development of Chinesecross-culture communication, Chinese culture’s “going out” has become an importantnational cultural strategy. Every one should and can make a contribution to thepromotion of Chinese civilization and facilitate the cultural exchange between Chinaand the western world. In the field of translation, prose translation, as an importantpart of Chinese culture, has become an increasingly important area, which hasreceived researchers’ and translators’ continuous attention. Recent developments have heightened the need for more Chinese excellent prose works to be translated intoforeign languages and introduced into foreign countries so that, Chinese ideas can bebetter spread to the world and China’s global influence can be better enhanced.

In the process of Chinese culture’s going global, the huge differences amongdifferent countries make it difficult for Chinese translation works to be favored andwelcomed by overseas markets and audiences. The road is bound to be bumpy,considering different regional histories, cultures, politics, economies and people’sideological thinking modes of different countries. However, a number of researchershave reported the misinterpretations of Chinese culture by foreign readers, whichhinders the spread of Chinese cultural and literary works on the international stage.

1.2 Research Method

Throughout the development of Eco-translatology in the 21st century, thefundamental translation changed from the focus on “how possible to make ‘adaption’and ‘selection’” to “how possible to make Eco-translatology” translation entered into a different form of “ecological era,” which makes the development of China’stranslation in the whole 21st century deeply etched with the brand of “ecological.” Inthe field of translation studies, Hu Gengshen first proposed the concept of“Eco-translatology studies,” reflecting the trend and great progress in the historicaldevelopment of translation studies. In essence, Eco-translatology is the “chance andinevitability” of methodological breakthrough and an advancement in the theoreticalpractice of traditional translation studies, and its ecological thinking and developmentpath have become the new starting point and growth point of translation studies, andan effective “weapon” for the construction of the system of translation studies. Theecological orientation revealed by Eco-translatology studies not only reflects thesuperiority and inclusiveness of Eco-translatology studies in theoretical construction,but also potentially conforms to the historical trend of contemporary translationstudies.
