nd hydrology which includes a lot of specialized terms and background information, in order to ensure the accuracy of the translation of the specialized terms and background information, the translator consulted many materials related to meteorology and hydrology in advance. Firstly, the translator searched materials and books related to meteorological and hydrological in the library. The translator also referred to some useful mobile applications and websites such as Baidu Translate, Google Translate, Wikipedia and Bing Dictionary. This report is under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory, which is widely applied and plays an important role in translation practice. After determining Functional Equivalence Theory as the guiding theory, the translator started to read papers and books on Functional Equivalence Theory and naturally applies it to the translation. Since recent years, various computer-aided-translation software has been very convenient for translators, such as Zhiyun and DeepL. This time, the translator also decided to use a translation tool called Trados, providing significant convenience for this translation task. 

2.2 While-translation

After completing the preparations before translation, the translator sets out to translate the source text. In the first place, the translator looked for the keywords in the selected chapters to achieve a better understanding of the sentence structure. In the second place, the translator read through the text, inquired the grammar book and Bing Dictionary about the unfamiliar grammar constructions and words, and marked the parts difficult to translate. In the third place, the translator began to translate the text, marking out the translation strategies used in the translation process, which will make the checking easier. In the fourth place, in order to translate the text accurately, the translator discussed the challenging parts with his supervisor and some of his teachers and roommates.
