笔者以验证多模式PPT在词汇教学中的应用是否能提高学生的词汇学习效果还有兴趣。经过数据收集和调查,对结果进行了科学分析。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Research Background
With the continuous development of society, English is more and more importantas a common language in the world. Language consists of vocabulary and grammar.Wilkins(1972), a famous English linguist, said that without grammar, people canexpress very little, without vocabulary, people can not express anything. From theperspective of linguistics, vocabulary plays an important role in humancommunication at the beginning of the emergence of human language. Vocabularyacquisition should be an important part of foreign language learning or secondlanguage learning. Vocabulary can directly affect the development of listening,speaking, reading and writing abilities and determines learners’ language proficiency.
The second-level objectives of The New English Curriculum Standard (2011) putforward relevant requirements for vocabulary: learning vocabulary according to thepronunciation, meaning and shape of words; learning about 700 words and 50 idiomson the topic of this level; using about 400 words to express the corresponding topicsstipulated in the second-level(Grade 6). In addition, The New English CurriculumStandard (2011) focuses on the requirement of students’ learning strategies, that is,teachers should endeavour to help students master learning strategies and improvetheir learning ability, in order to lay a foundation for their lifelong second languagelearning ability. From the above, we can see that The New English CurriculumStandard (2011) emphasizes the use of scientific learning strategies to master Englishwords according to their pronunciation, meaning and form. At present, in primaryschool English classroom teaching, several teachers also adopt the conventionalteaching method of “phonetic transcription + spelling + word meaning”.

1.2 Research Purpose
This paper aims to explore the correlation between Multimodal PPT teaching andstudents’ vocabulary learning effect and interest, focusing on the impact ofMultimodal PPT teaching on students’ vocabulary learning, and to explore the role ofMultimodal PPT in enhancing students’ different vocabulary using.
Using Multimodal PPT in Grade 5’s vocabulary teaching as a case study, thisarticle investigates how Multimodal PPT uses images, graphics, audios, videos andcolors to create situation and considers the potential of visual-verbal andaudio-linguistic relations to support vocabulary teaching and learning. At the end ofthe paper, the author will get a discussion of the practical significance of the use anddesign of Multimodal PPT materials in multimedia technology: the key role ofteachers in organizing these materials, and the need of improving understanding of thepotential and limitations of the relationship between Multimodal PPT application andEnglish vocabulary teaching, so as to support foreign language teaching andunderstand the Multimodal PPT design of foreign language materials.
