Politics is closely related with language in many aspects.As long as the speaker hasenough authority,one can give orders and threats,ask questions,make suggestions and makecommitments with words.Politicians declare war,decide a verdict of guilty or innocence,postpone the Congress,and raise or lower tax through discourse.Obviously,politicaldiscourse focuses on the ideological information between the lines.Chilton(2004)discussedthree types of discourse strategy in political discourse:coercion,legitimization anddelegitimization and representation and misrepresentation[3].

Political discourse is the focus of critical discourse analysis.With regard to the closerelationship between politics and language,the studies of political discourse can be tracedback to the political rhetoric of ancient Greece.Political discourse is highly purposeful,propagandistic and ideological,and it is recognized by its actors.The main goal of politicaldiscourse is to express ideas,spread ideologies behind politicians and persuade others throughconstructing certain discourse space in the cognitive level.In political discourse,the politicianwill skillfully use various language skills and strategies to achieve the purpose of influencingand controlling the audience’s ideology.Critical-political discourse analysis deals especiallywith the reproduction of political power through political discourse[4].Fairclough put forwarda new approach to political discourse analysis,which is novel in that“it mainly regardspolitical discourse as a practical arguments,an arguments for or against particular ways ofbehaving,can serve as the basis for decision-making.It can be used to analyze different datasets”[5].

2.2 Impoliteness Model

2.2.1 Politeness Theory

Politeness is a social phenomenon that exists in almost all languages and attracts greatattention from sociologists and linguists.Leech(1983)[20]held that politeness principlesinclude“tact maxim,generosity maxim,approbation maxim,modesty maxim,agreementmaxim”.Face is the core theory of politeness,which describes everyone’s self-consciousness.It is closely related to a person’s self,reputation,interpersonal and professional relationships.The definition of face includes two aspects:one is positive face,the purpose of which is togain the respect of others;the other is negative face,which means that every competent socialperson expects his behavior not to be hindered by others.The core of Brown and Levinson’sresearch is face threatening acts(FTA),which is consistent with speech act theory.A key partof their understanding is that“certain kinds of acts intrinsically threaten face”.Intrinsic FTAsare classified according to the kind of face threatened(positive or negative),whether thethreat concerns the hearer’s face or the speaker’s.Brown and Levinson also put forward theface saving theory,they interpreted that speech act is essentially a kind of face threateningbehavior,and politeness behavior is defined as the rational behavior of rational“modelcharacters”to satisfy their face.
