摘要:This paper is just discussing the translation of trademark of commodities for female from the angle of the aesthetic principle and method .In this paper, the author uses some theories of translation, such as literal translation, free translation, and also some aesthetic principle, such as the beauty in sense, sound and form.
What is the trademark? According to the American economist R.Hayes’s viewpoint,a brand such as trademark, is a name, term sign, symbol. Design or a combination of them that tells who makes it or who sells it, distinguishing that product from those made or sold by others. A brand name is that part of brand that can be vocalized. Generally speaking, the trademark is the symbol and image of commodity, it consists of lonely script or graph, perhaps the script, the graph constitute together. It is said that the translation of trademark is the translation of the part of script. To be specific, it means that we translate English name of trademark into Chinese.
Looking from the language form that, the
constitution of trademark is easy to be understood, compared with other language transforming. Its process of translation is not influenced by sentence, paragraph, chapter, deep language level and so on, thus it seems simply. As a result, the translation of the trademark is not to take for the people. However, Professor Qian Guanlian (1993:13) says, “To any tools` creation, the people all have two levels` requests: Practical and aesthetic.” Translation of trademark should achieve the beauty both in sound and sense, conform to the aesthetic appeal of people and the psychology of expense of people. Therefore, translation of trademark is not the easy matter, similarly it needs some theories of translation and also needs certain method of translation.
Globalization is weaving the world together as never before, so the overseas commodities for female inrushes into Chinese market increasingly. As we all know, the commodity is pushed successfully in the market decided in whether it has the general consumers or not. Because the expense object of the commodities for female is the general female, how to stimulate the desire of women’s purchasing, a very important factor is the commodity must have an exquisite trademark name. This paper is aimed at discussing the translation of the trademark of the commodities for female form the angle of the aesthetic and the method of translation.
I. The Relationship between Aesthetics and Trademark
Briefly speaking, aesthetics is a study which researched the esthetic relations between human and the reality. It is already different from the general art, and also is not the daily beautified activity.
The origin of aesthetics might can be traced to the ancient times of slavery society. In ancient times, the thinkers researched in the topic on aesthetics and art, and summeraried the art experience, all of which might be regarded as the beginning of aesthetics theory.
Aesthetic, as a branch of independent science, which is the product of the modern era. In the 18th century, philosophy and science was developed vigorously, aesthetics as a special Department in Germanys classical philosophy was asked to begin to establish itself. Maoronggui in 1750 first used the word "aesthetic" (Aesthetic) the term (its meaning is to study the theory and emotional feeling), the aesthetic and philosophical system as a component. Subsequently, Kant, Hegel, and other aesthete give further systematic theoretical patterns in their philosophical system to occupy an important position.
