1.1 Background of the Task

The interpreter simulated an interpretation for the lecture delivered in Shanghai International Studies University in October 2020.The topic of the lecture is Interesting Development of English. To guarantee the quality of this interpretation, the interpreter prepared for these aspects: firstly, she collected relevant background information, including the speaker's academic background and the background knowledge of the lecture. She then invited the audience to listen to the interpretation afterwards and sent questionnaires to collect their opinions.
