Chapter One Introduction


1.1 Research Background
自20世纪70年代以来,语言教学研究的焦点已经被转移的研究教学方法,学习者的研究和在同一时间,在阅读教学中的学习策略的功能的研究已经成为一个关键学科研究人员已经集中。在四个培养目标的听,说,读,写在我的调查中,52%的学生认为阅读是比较难以对付。根据英语高职院校的培养目标,培养学生的沟通能力,英语阅读理解是非常重要的任务。实际的事实是,一些高职院校学生英语的是穷人,当他们走进大学的门,因此,他们表现出信心不足,因为很多学生在英语阅读只是为了在他们的专业兴趣选择高职院校。业内总的基础课程,英语,这是他们的态度只是为了通过考试,他们必须学习英语,但他们不知道如何去学习,也可以找到他们的方法从教师。如今,仍在使用传统工商业的教学方法在大多数的英语课在一些高职院校。Since the 1970’s, the focus of the researches on language teaching has beentransferred from the researches on the teaching methodology to the researches onlearners and at the same time, the research on the function of learning strategies inteaching reading has become one of the key subjects the researchers have focused on.In the four cultivating goals of listening, speaking, reading and writing, 52% ofthe students in my investigation think reading to be relatively more difficult to dealwith. According to the cultivating goal of English for vocational colleges, trainingstudents’ abilities of communication reading comprehension in English are veryimportant tasks.The actual fact is that some students in vocational colleges are poor in Englishreading when they came into the gate of college, and therefore they show lessconfidence in English reading because many students choose the vocational collegesjust for the interest in their specialty. Their attitude towards English, which is ageneral basic course, is just to pass the exam, they have to learn English but they donot know how to learn, neither can they find methods from teachers. Nowadays, thetraditional teaching methods are still used in most of the English classes in somevocational colleges. Most English teachers still continue the traditional type ofteaching style. Although some teachers are using the new teaching model in form,most of the teachers have not really done research on their students’ learningsentiment but applied some teaching methods mechanically in class. As a result of this,most students in vocational colleges lack motivation and interest in English reading,which has greatly stopped students’ reading comprehension ability from beingimproved. Teachers in the vocational colleges are in need of doing research to find asolution to help their students improve English reading comprehension ability.
我现在在长春职业技术学院任教。英语是公共基础科目之一。所用的课本是新编实用英语综合课程(1)和新编实用英语综合课程(2)由高等教育出版社出版。什么是教科书中强调的是,学生应该学会用英语进行交流,了解不同的文化。每个单元中的文章主要是引进外国的风俗和文化,这是短期和简单的一见钟情,因此学生不注意。什么是最糟糕的,学生很难理解阅读材料的细节,因为新的单词,短语,或一些与文化相关的句子。因此,一些学生失去了英语阅读的兴趣。I am now teaching in Changchun Vocational Institute of Technology. English is one of the public basic subjects. The textbook used is New Practical EnglishComprehensive Course (1) and New Practical English Comprehensive Course (2)published by Higher Education Press. What is emphasized in the textbook is that thestudents should learn to communicate in English and know about different cultures.The articles in each unit are mainly the introduction of foreign customs and cultures,each of which is short and simple at first sight and therefore students pay littleattention to it. What’s the worst, the students find it hard to understand the details ofthe reading materials because of the new words, phrases, or some culture-relatedsentences. As a consequence, some students lost interest in English reading.
