摘要:This paper discusses typical important festivals in China and Western Countries. Firstly, it introduces Spring Festival and Christmas respectively. And then it reveals the differences in origin and custom through the comparative study of Spring Festival and Christmas.

Most importantly, the first day of Spring Festival is a time where family members, in order of their seniority, will pay a visit to their oldest and most senior member of their family. Some families may invite a Lion dance troupe to their home as a symbolic ritual to usher in the Lunar New Year as well as to evict bad spirits from the premises.
The second day of the Spring Festival is usually for daughters-in-law to visit their own parents. Traditionally, daughters who have been married may not have the opportunity to visit their own families frequently.
The fifteenth day of the Spring Festival is the last day of the traditional Spring Festival celebrations. It is celebrated as Lantern Festival (元宵节) or otherwise known as Chap Goh Mei in Fujian dialect, marked by the eating of Tang Yuan(汤圆)a sweet rice ball dumpling soup.
2.1.3 Impact of Spring Festival
Seeing the glaring fireworks, hearing the tremulous firecracker, the Chinese people profoundly feel that the peculiar ancient festival, the Spring Festival start to return to the tradition. At the same time, the culture of the Spring Festival influence the people all over the world, and the people overseas make great effort making more preparations to celebrate it, and more and more foreigners start to learn how to celebrate this festival. There are many leaders from different countries presented who solemnly “some hopes and wishes” to all the Chinaman.
The first day of a lunar year in 2006, thousands of citizens of London came to the Chinatown and square located in the centre of London, to join together with the people who are celebrating the Spring Festival. A British old woman with her grandson pulled her cotton-padded jacket and said: Today I came all the way to celebrate the Spring Festival with Chinese people and wore the new clothes bought in Christmas Day, many foreigners who are not satisfied by only observing the scene. So they joined group on their own, a group of old British played dragon dance in the centre of the square. An old British man in the parade of hundreds of people expressed good wishes to the spectators standing the roadside. It was the largest seals Chinese Culture activity in the history of London.
In many other counties, the people do not only simply watch the martial art and acrobatics, but indeed learn the custom of China during the Spring Festival. In Brazil, some people will buy a lord “Fu” and stick it to the door just like our Chinese do which represents that good luck will arrive soon. Similarly, the Chinese characters “Fu” and “Xinnianhao” can be found in the famous shopping means of France.
In recent years, the domestic people from various overseas just as “week of China”. However, the most influential festival in the foreign countries is the Spring Festival. As the prince minister of British Blare says the Spring Festival overpass the association of Chinese people and it is also the day that more and more people celebrate.
