摘要:本文是一篇商务英语论文,本研究从四个角度分析了公众对D&G危机传播的评论,以促进中国语境下的跨文化危机传播。首先,分析了德勤根据SCCT采取的危机传播策略。其次,分析了D&G危机传播策略在中国语境下的不同解读。第三,分析公众对本案的建议策略。最后,分析了这些解释背后的文化因素和建议的策略。分析的主要结果将用于回答研究问题。
2.2 Previous studies on crisis communication in Chinese context
Investigation into crisis communication in the Chinese context is still a nascent endeavor. Chinese society is different from contexts elsewhere including the economic development path, the unprecedented transition from an agricultural to a manufacturing country, and the historical, cultural, and traditional factors. Given such complexity, the Chinese context is a valuable object of study that questions the rightfulness of many existing assumptions, conceptions, or theories of crisis communication originated in the western context (Huang, Wu, & Cheng, 2016, p. 203). Crisis communication scholars have paid attention to the uniqueness of Chinese context (e.g., Lyu, 2012, pp. 779-791; Wu, 2013, pp. 33-42). Studies in this field in China focus on two important issues: the contextual factors that affect the crisis communication and distinct crisis management strategies deployed (Wang & Laufer, 2019, p. 1). Ngai and Jin (2016, pp. 451-494) investigate the Chinese public’s responses in Weibo - a Chinese social platform - to the crisis communication strategy employed after the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214. Hu and Pang (2018, pp. 105-128) explore indigenous response strategies in the context of China’s crisis response strategies. However, these studies only generalize in a subjective way the influence of cultural factors on crisis communication and the unique crisis communication strategies in the Chinese context. What’s more, the applicability of a specific theory in the context of China has not been fully verified. Therefore, in this study, to achieve the objectivity of the discovery process of the cultural factors in crisis communication in Chinese context, the author chooses SCCT as the framework and aims to conduct a content analysis of online comments on D&G’s crisis communication strategies to delve into the factors behind comments. This research presents critical thinking of the applicability of SCCT in Chinese context and can help intercultural corporations to do business and deal with crisis in China.
