摘要：自中国加入世贸组织，越来越多的外资银行如雨后春笋般在中国发展起来。大量的外资银行有能力在中国市场提供一个广泛的、完美的和复杂的和银行客户服务。,因此,他们已经深深扎根在中国银行业，对银行效率影响深远。此外,外资银行进入中国银行给中国市场带来了威胁，使当地银行面临巨大挑战。外资银行的进入刺激并促进了当地银行业的体制改革，推动了业务创新和银行效率的提高。

ince 2006, equal statues have been granted by foreign banks to Chinese counterpart. Therefore the correlation between foreign bank presence and local banking performance will keep developing. They would be helpful to make appropriate policy decision.

It is also critical to distinguish between banking regulation and financial liberalization. It does not mean there is no regulation in a more open banking sector. It is showed by this study that associated with foreign bank entry is the improved performance of local banking. That is observed from a financial environment in which foreign entry is properly regulated and closely monitored. In a more open banking market, it also should be regulated and monitored to ensure a healthy and efficient banking market. Only in that way, it will contribute to the welfare of the society and the development of the economy.

Because of the availability of current data, it only employs a few of branches of foreign bank by the foreign presence’s spatially disaggregated measure in a city. There exists the hypothesis that foreign banks across cities own homogenous nature. In future, if it is accessible to get data of foreign banks information and assets on balance sheets of foreign bank at city level, it is helpful to improve the measure.

To test the correlation between foreign entry and China’s banking performance, this research follows the previous empirical studies when choosing the indicators of performance, which may not be able to reflect the foreign entry’s influence directly. Furthermore, as the first step, it is helpful to use the previous empirical framework in highlighting and comparing the characteristic of aggregated measures and disaggregated measure, which was used in the past. The direct performance indicators might be employed in future researches.

According to the analyses mentioned above, the author has provided six main recommendations on how foreign banks and local banks meet new challenges in the banking industry. The six recommendations are facing the challenge, intensify reform, adjust the management idea, make full use of the advantage of RMB, introduce talents, and perfect regulations. The report has also offered some advice in order to make the research more convincing and cover more aspects. First, more data should be provided and these data should be gathered from different sources at different levels. Thus, the data will be more convincing and the information will be more classified more clearly.
