摘要:For the last thirty years, research findings both at home and abroad have revealed that most Englishlearners are likely to be anxious in the listening process; language anxiety, as one of the key factors toevaluate English learners’ learning performance, to some degree, is relational with their achievement.The author of this thesis, when she was teaching in a newly-built-college, also has found that themajority of students have the appearance of anxiety in her listening classes.

, significanceof the study, and organization of the present study.Chapter Two is the literature review of the previous studies on anxiety, foreign language anxietythen English listening anxiety. A brief introduction of the definition of Anxiety, foreign languagelistening anxiety will be mentioned here. Then follow the characters and previous research on theseitems.Methodology will be described in Chapter Three, contains the research questions, subjects,instruments, data collection and data analysis.Chapter Four is results and discussions. In this chapter, the statistical analysis results will bepresented.The conclusion part summarizes the major findings, offers implications and points out thelimitations of the study and in the end it proposes suggestions for further research.

Chapter V Conclusion
  
  This part intends to draw the whole thesis into a close with conclusion. It first makes a brief reviewof what have been discussed above, and discusses the implications then limitations in the present thesisand finally gives some suggestions for the further studies.


  
5.1 Major findings of the study
The present study attempts to explore the effects of anxiety on listening comprehension amongnon-English freshmen in Luliang University. Combining the quantitative data based on the investigationof 163 subjects and the qualitative data based on the 15 times classroom observation also interviews of6 subjects, conclusions can be drawn as follows:First, non-English major freshmen in newly-built-college do experience listening anxiety in acertain score. The results have shown a positive correlation between listening anxiety and the subjects’listening achievements: The more anxious listeners get the higher scores they are likely to achieve.Second, combine with the analysis of classroom observation, questionnaire and interview,motivation is an important factor influencing students’ listening anxiety. Combine with interviewanalysis and correlation analysis between the FLLACSS and learners’ background factors shows thatFLLACSS has significant correlation with subjects’ self-rated listening proficiency and motivation. Thatis to say students who feel confident to their listening proficiency and are interested in English tend touse more strategies coping with listening anxiety than the others. The FLLAS and the FLLACSS alsohave a significant positive correlation, says that students experiencing higher listening anxiety are morelikely to adopt coping strategies.
