Also, the more police that are employed there is more chance of police corruption etc. So the only solution to this public expectation is to find a balance between police patrolling the roads and police patrolling the streets. However this task is quite a challenge for the Criminal Justice System as the second a horrific car crash or beating happens there is public outcry, that is usually fuelled by the media and its somewhat sensationalism of some problems within the Criminal Justice System. The Criminal Justice System tries to meet this expectation by the public by using technology, such as; speed cameras to catch speeding drivers on the road. However many argue that speed cameras are just a way for the Criminal Justice System to create additional revenue. Ironically this is what the Criminal Justice System requires to meet society’s expectations. Another form of technology used by the police is the introduction of Closed Circuit Television or CCTV for short. These are specialised cameras that enable a person who is observing criminal or attempted criminal behaviour to warn the participants that they are being watched by the CCTV camera and the police have been notified. This is a brilliant method as there is no potential for a person to be injured as they are observing the persons criminal behaviour in an impartial location. Though it could be argued that if once the criminals have been notified that the police are on their way, they could then flee. On the other hand, the CCTV has already identified the persons committing the criminal activity and would have them on record for the police to observe and determine whether to persecute the offenders or let them go.
