摘要:A literature review that includes the theoreticalbackground for the thesis and the relevant researches on peer review are presented inchapter two. In chapter three, the research design is described in detail.
2.2 Related researches on peer review
In recent years in writing process,great importance has been attached to revisionand to the role of feedback in the process of revisicm,,(Yu 2000:55). Revision has beenwidely acknowledged as a crucial component in the writing process in bothLl(Faigleyet, 1985; Onore, 1989) and L2 (Amdt, 1993; Leki, 1990). As an essentialpart in teaching writing, revision feedback, which intervenes between drafting andrevising, aims at encouraging the development of students' writing and is regarded ascritical in improving and consolidating learning. Keh(1990: 294) defined feedback asinput from a reader to a writer with the effect of providing information to the writerfor revision. Lamberg(1980: 66) held that feedback was information on performancewhich affected subsequent performance by influencing students' attention to aparticular matters so that those matters underwent a change in the subsequentperformance. While other linguists (Brumfit, 1984; Brooks and Grundy, 1990," etc)interpreted the concept at the angle of communicative theory, "the interactiveatmosphere in the class can provide writing with examiners and feedback, which helpwriters to convey exactly what they want to express". No matter how linguists varytheir words to give feedback a different definition, a common understanding has beenobtained that effective revision feedback can help students to work out theircompositions' potential, rediscover meanings and facilitate the revision of initialdrafts.
