摘要:本文是英语毕业论文,The ultimate purpose of this study is to emphasize the beneficialrole of Chinese in English writing, and the improvement of the ability of Chinese writingshould be an acid to improve English writing ability rather than an obstacle.
4 Data Analysis and Discussion
4.1 Correlation between Chinese and English writing abilities
To find whether there is correlation between Chinese writing ability and English writingability and what is the relation between Chinese writing ability and English writing ability.The final scores of their writing in English and Chinese are used as the criteria to evaluatetheir overall writing ability in Chinese and English. The data are collected into the SPSSsoftware, and by its Pearson Correlation Coefficient Analysis, the specific correlation will bediscovered. The correlation between Chinese writing and English writing can be analyzed throughthe work of Pearson Correlation. According to Table 4-2, the Person Correlation coefficient is0.806, very close to 1.00, which belongs to the last blank of Table 4-1, it can be indicated thatthere exists high marked correlation between Chinese writing ability and English writingability. It means that the higher the participant gets in Chinese writing task, the higher he orshe will get in the English writing. Besides the analysis of the correlation, Sig.(2-tailed) is0.00, which is less than 0.01. It means the marked correlation of the writing ability betweenChinese and English is so significant. Thus it can be concluded that Chinese writing abilitypositively correlates with English writing proficiency. Additionally, it can also predict thepossibility that the improvement of the Chinese writing ability will facilitate the enhancementof the English writing ability.

Conclusion
In this section, conclusions of the research are drawn on the basis of the previous dataand discussion. By analyzing the results obtained in empirical research and comparative study,the major findings are summarized as follows:
(1) There is high marked correlation between Chinese writing ability and English writingability. English writing ability can be judged from the Chinese writing proficiency. Thesimilarity of generating ideas, organizing, focusing, evaluating and reviewing in writingprocess and the common underlying proficiency attributes to the high marked correlation.
(2) The word density in English writing will be influenced by Chinese writing ability. Studentswith higher Chinese writing ability have higher cognitive level and larger reading scope, so they canproduce thoughtful and content-rich compositions, which can be transferred to the Englishwriting. Students with higher writing ability in Chinese can write more informative Englishcomposition than those of lower writing ability.
(3) The average sentence length in English writing will be influenced by Chinese writingability. It can be concluded that students with higher ability in Chinese writing can producelonger sentences. Due to the positive transfer of Chinese, they are more skillful in thefollowing aspects: the organization of the text, the logical thinking and the use of cohesivewords. Therefore, they can write longer sentences which make the composition morecompact.
