1. Introduction
The purpose of this report is to develop a four-month strategic development plan for Sunrise PLC. The focus will be on developing the steel ring market in the current market through improvement of the technology and marketing strategy. An examination of the micro- and macro environments will be completed, including an examination of Sunrise PLC’s closest competitors in the market. Once a gap analysis has been performed, recommended financial, marketing, and strategic goals and objectives will be delineated. A four-month strategic development plan is proposed, including recommendations for its implementation, controls, and evaluation. It will be made clear through the situational analyses and justifications for the recommendations that by following this plan, the market for Sunrise will grow in a more aggressive manner, achieving overall company profitability, sustained competitive advantage, and a healthy market share in a growing market of its product.

AIMS OF THE MODULE

The module aims to increase students' knowledge of the theory and practice of management accounting and to build on study of this topic in earlier years, especially to extend and complement the material covered in ACFI 203 Management Accounting I. An important part of the module will be a review of the various theoretical approaches which have been adopted or proposed for the development of management accounting and management decision-making. Also, detailed material on the practice of management accounting will be provided. The module will present management accounting in a broad context of organisational management. The module will be based on the notion that the primary aim of the business organisation is to identify and pursue a successful long-term competitive strategy.

OBJECTIVES OF THE MODULE

By the end of the module students should possess knowledge of the theoretical tools and current practices of management accounting. In addition, students should be able to understand, analyse and evaluate issues in theory and practice in management accounting and appreciate the sources of and possible solutions to controversies in management accounting. Students should understand the role of management accounting in management decision making and activity.
