摘要:本文是一篇研究高中英语教学的论文,本文在前人对受众意识和语篇连贯理论研究的基础上,重点分析了高中生英语写作中的受众意识及其缺失的原因。

笔者首先对153名高中生的作文关注度和受众关注度进行问卷调查分析,发现高中生的作文关注度最低,他们甚至在写作中缺乏听觉和意识。学生在写作过程中并没有运用受众意识来监控自己的写作过程,他们只注重表达自己的想法和观点,没有时间考虑听众是否能理解他们的表达。因此,由于缺乏听力意识,出现了语无伦次、莫名其妙的句子。而学生缺乏受众意识主要体现在四个方面:角色定位混乱、语言形式缺失、作者自我中心化和主题拓展不足。


Chapter Ⅰ Introduction


1.1 Background of the Study

Writing skill plays a very significant role among four basic language skills to learnersin the English learning process. And it is also an important way to measure learners’comprehensive ability of using language. Especially for Chinese learners, it’s crucial forthem to improve their English writing ability. Writing is the bridge between the author andthe audience, and the purpose of writing is that the author expresses his/her thoughts andemotions to the audience through writing. American scholar Moffet (1977) pointed out:“No matter who wants to make a difference in writing teaching, the primary thing is tocultivate learners’ audience awareness. Otherwise, writing teaching will never succeed.” Itcan be seen that he paid great attention to the audience awareness in writing at an early age.In China, both Ye and Xia (2008) mentioned that “as long as the article is aimed atthe audience, there is an expectation for the audience.” And Zhu (1947) alsoexpressed the similar idea, he believed that the purpose of writing is application,and writing could work smoothly without a teacher, but failed for no audience. Inother words, if the author does not take the audience and the needs of the audienceinto account the in the process of writing, it will be difficult to write good articles.Therefore, the author learns should take the audience into account while writing,and make an outline from the perspective of the audience.

The National English Curriculum Standards of Senior High School putforward that “Does the composition appeal to the audience?” (2017) And studentscould comment and revise each composition under this opinion. Although theNECS advocates to pay attention to the target audience in writing teaching, it hasvery little influence in actual senior high school English writing teaching. On theone hand, many senior high school students lack a positive attitude in Englishwriting, and the writing purpose for them is trying their best to completeassignments as soon as possible that assigned by their English teacher.

1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Study

1.2.1 Purpose of the Study

This study mainly investigates the current status of senior high schoolstudents’ audience awareness in English writing and finds out reasons that affect students’ lack of audience awareness in writing through the following three aspects.First, investigate the current status of students’ audience awareness in senior highschool English in English writing. Second, according to the collected data, theauthor analyzes the reasons for students lacking audience awareness. Third,provide some countermeasures on cultivating senior high school students’ audienceawareness based on the results of data analysis and discussion. The study may behelpful to make English teachers and learners will pay more attention to therelevant theories of audience awareness, to cultivate and enhance students’audience awareness gradually.

1.2.2 Significance of the Study

This part mainly introduces theoretical and practical value of the study.
