5.1 Effects of the Writing Instruction Based on SRL Strategies on Students’ Self-efficacy
All participants were required to complete the questionnaire before and after the experiment and the questionnaires collected were valid. All data presented in this part were used to investigate the first research question: what are the effects of the writing instruction based on SRL strategies on junior high school students’ self-efficacy in English narrative writing?
5.1.1 Results of the Pre-questionnaire
Before the experiment, there was a need to get a general picture of the participants’ writing efficacy, so all students were asked to fill in the questionnaire. This questionnaire consisted of three dimensions, 20 questions, and it was proved to have good reliability and validity. The table 5.1 showed the descriptive statistics of the participants’ writing self-efficacy before the intervention.

6.1 Major Findings
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the writing instruction based on SRL strategies on junior high school students’ self-efficacy and performance in English narrative essays. After the analysis of the data, the findings of the study were as follows.
First, the writing instruction based on SRL strategies facilitated junior high school students’ self-efficacy in English narrative writing.
Before the intervention, the writing self-efficacy of the two classes was at an intermediate level and almost the same, with no difference. After the intervention, writing self-efficacy increased in both classes. Further, the results of independent samples t-test showed that there was a significant difference in writing self-efficacy between EC and CC after the experiment, which could confirm the positive effects of the writing instruction on junior high school students’ self-efficacy.
