摘要:在这项研究中,通过问卷调查和访谈的形式对新疆大学外语自主学习的整体状况做研究。研究英语和俄罗斯这两种语言之间,不同年级学生的学习是否存在差异,以及自觉学习的影响因素。

在持续变化的社会的压力和不断严重的国家和人民之间的竞争,社会的期望和要求比以往任何时候都更严厉,人们已经意识到终身教育和自主学习能力的重要作用。

Chapter One Introduction

 

1.1Research Background
Under the pressure of the ongoing changing society and constantly severecompetitions among people and countries, besides the society is expecting anddemanding much more  people than ever before, people have realized theimportance of lifelong Education and autonomous learning ability.The concept of learner autonomy was first introduced  the field oflanguage pedagogy by Holec in 1981. Since then, learner autonomy has not only beenpopular within the context of language learning but also has stirred up great changesin language teaching. Some researchers even consider the ultimate goal of educationis to train the students¡¯ capacities of independent thinking and self-management, toprovide students with autonomous learning skills and capabilities, and to lay a solidfoundation for life-long education. How successful a school education prepares theautonomous learner is the criterion of its excellence; thus, how to cultivateindependent, autonomous and effective learners to meet the need of the society hasbecome the major concern of college education.Under such circumstance, our country has undergone a series of educationalreforms. The most obvious one is the shift  Exam-oriented teaching toQuality-oriented one, and the emphasis of teaching also shifts  teacher to learner.Traditional teaching model is teacher-centered; teachers are dominant in teachingactivities, while learners are in a passive position in teaching and learning, https://www.51lunwen.org/languagethesis/org201211091319275974.htmltheyconsequently become the submissive recipient of knowledge. To a large extent,traditional teaching model restrained the students¡¯ enthusiasm, initiative and creativityand their autonomous learning abilities.Different  traditional teaching model, Quality-oriented education guaranteesmore rights for learner. The learner becomes the centre of teaching and learningactivities. Learner will have more chances to manage and control learning process,decide the learning content and choose learning strategies. During this process,autonomous learning abilities can be well developed. Next will be the motivation ofthe study.

 

1.2 Motivation
In order to answer the call for teaching reform of higher education, XinjiangUygur Autonomous Region also implemented the construction of the excellent course.Both Comprehensive English and Basic Russian Grammar are ranked as excellentcourses of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Xinjiang University.Excellent Course Construction is one of the important parts of the ¡°QualityProject¡±, which has the immeasurable effect to the higher education improvement inour countries. Implementation of the ¡°teaching quality and teaching reform project ofuniversity¡± is not only a major initiative launched by the Ministry of Education toimprove teaching quality, but also an important part of the Ministry of Education(2003 - 2007) Education Revitalization Action Plan.
