摘要:如今社会上的每一事物都在不断地在变化、在创新,培训管理领域也不例外。企业在面临快速变化的社会环境,成功的融入到一个新环境,学习和不断开发新事物是很重要的。
Just-in-time training is a recent development that organisations are notably adopting to overcome financial burdens relating to training costs. Just-in-time training responds to particular problems within a job when the need arises, encompassing cost and time effectiveness. As Jones (2001, p. 486) describes, just-in-time training encourages training to only be available when the immediate need emerges. The beneficial factor is the shortened time length between knowledge acquisition and the transfer of such training into the work environment. 'Transfer of training is a vitally important issue to organisations, HRD practitioners, and researchers' (Gilley & Callahan 2003, p. 197). Just-in-time training is therefore imperative to cost-effective organisations.
Competency-based models identify the skills and personality required for successful performance, linking these competencies to particular goals. These models are very broad and flexible. Encompassing crucial elements for corporate success, these models also illustrate the needs of individuals and resources that the organisation possesses.
From analysing the above literature articles, one can observe there is indeed a rapidly changing environment of training and development practices. Organisations have no choice but to create systems that adapt swiftly to developments in order to gain a competitive advantage. Research suggests that technology, leadership, and motivation set the foundations for effective training practices to take place.
The academics critique the methods used in the developments of training, concluding that the most recent evolutions have been highly technological in nature. This is to be assumed in a learning environment in which most generations rely and evolve around technology. Developments reflect societal needs and wants, placing greater internal motivation and understanding amongst those undergoing training.
As discussed above, learning and development is critical for success for reasons such as internally motivating employees to improve job performance, and because 'learning must occur for training to be effective.' (Noe & Winkler, p. 160). Training cannot take place without learning; as it is the basis for knowledge acquisition. As society is perennially a learning entity, there have been a manifold of developments in the field of training and development as mentioned above; namely technology-based learning, competency models, and talent management.
