Specialists have pointed out that it would generally take 4 to 5 years for an emerging business mode to be widely accepted, B2B e-commerce is still quite young and has a long way to go.
Competing in B2B e-commerce is becoming more and more difficult nowadays. Clients are becoming more and more choosy, and organisations’ profit margins are becoming smaller and smaller.
Furthermore, those investors that used to invest in B2B e-commerce are becoming more rational and prefer short-term investment. To survive and further develop in such a difficult environment,
organisations have to spend time and resources maturing their B2B systems.
The internet is recognised as a key enabler for establishing communication amongst all constituent members of the construction supply chain. Furthermore, e-commerce is a key strategic issue within global businesses. Although experts differ on the level of its applicability within construction, e-commerce is here and the internet and related technologies are likely to play a significant role in the manner that communication and data are procured throughout the business and the whole project lifecycle. To this end, an understanding of the underlying technologies for integrated web-based solutions will be advantageous to IT managers of the industry.
The sub-module will commence with a through introduction to the
history and the basics of the
Internet. This will pave the path towards developing a better understanding about the technology that supports the Internet, with particular focus on the programming aspect of the Internet. Although the final goal is to build the preliminary knowledge for the student to create his/her dynamic website, the sub-module will initially, describe the stages that are required to set up a basic ISP (Internet Service Provider).https://www.51lunwen.org/liuxuelunwendx/ This is intended to increase student’s awareness, however, with some additional work, the student will be able to implement the system and provide service to a few clients by allowing them to dial-in, browse the Internet, use FTP to transfer files, have access to their personal mail accounts and publish their Website on the Internet. With this knowledge, the student will develop the competence to engage in the latter part of the sub-module which involves writing codes, particularly in HTML, but also supported by Perl scripting language and some SQL commands. To this end, the sub-module will introduce these languages to the level that is adequate for simple applications and further development, should they choose to extend their knowledge and skill in this area.
Throughout this module, several short questions will be paused to the student in order to lay the
pathway for progressive development of the sub-module. Furthermore, this sub-module will be a major contributor to the overall module project.
