• This Assessment counts for 25% of the final mark in the subject. Students must attempt a reasoned answer to the question attached.

• The examiners are looking for a clear reasoned analysis and where appropriate some imagination. Credit will be given for the accurate identification of the legal problems and for the suggestion of plausible and creative solutions, provided always that they are supported by reasoned arguments and legal authorities.

• It is a serious academic offence to plagiarise the work of another author including another student.  You coursework will be checked for plagiarism by “Turnitin” (Plagiarism Detection Software). Students who commit such offences will be subject to disciplinary proceedings. Quotations from legal sources must be clearly attributed in footnotes.

• Your coursework must not be more than 2,500 words. At the end, you must state the amount of words. Exceeding the word limit (apart from cases where de minimis rule applies) would result in a deduction from your mark. The amount of deduction would be determined according to School/University Regulations. Stating the word limit inaccurately would be treated as an attempt to gain unfair advantage and disciplinary measures would be applied. 

• A hard copy of your coursework must be submitted to Miss Michelle Meacham in Room G43 at the Law School AND an electronic copy to the LLM Blackboard. The submission date/time for both the hard and the electronic copy is on Monday 31 January 2011 at  4:30 pm. You are reminded that this is an absolute deadline.  Only the Postgraduate Taught Assessment and Progression Committee can grant an extension of time for submitting coursework where an application is made in advance of the due date. (Please do not approach any other member of staff regarding extensions). It will be granted on proof of exceptional circumstances. Extension applications submitted after the due date will not be considered. • The answer must be attached to a School "front page" (containing your student number etc.) which you should obtain from Miss Michelle Meacham. Hand in the assessment to Miss Michelle Meacham, where the receipt of the answer will be noted and dated.
