摘要:很多高分学习者都有明显的内部学习动机和外部学习动机,有良好的英语学习态度,存在一定的学习焦虑, 但不是很高。个性方面,高分学习者大都比较自信,积极,乐观。同时很多低分学习者内部动机不明显,有一些外部动机,学习态度不是很好,存在很高的语言焦虑和恐惧,他们大都在语言学习方面不自信,不愿意与人交流。

  1.2 Research Motivation and Objectives研究动机和目标
  In today’s China, many English language teachers still adopt conservative teaching methods. Theydisregard and neglect the influence of affective factors. They have no time to concern the students’ affectiveeducation. Many students have lots of negative emotion and lack self-confidence in their foreign languagelearning. Although many studies in the field of affective factors have been carried out, they are fragmentary,not systematic in our country. And little research focuses on junior middle schools. This thesis’s aim is tostudy the affective factors of higher-points learners and lower-points learners in junior middle schools andfind the problems and give some efficient suggestions to improve the learners’ English learning. This studyattempts to answer the following two questions: 1).What affective factors do the higher-points learnershave? What affective factors do the lower-points learners have? And what are the differences between them?2).In what way can teachers help the students to enhance the learners’ positive affective factors? This thesiscentered upon the affective factors in No. 12 Middle School in Xinxiang, seeking to know the currentsituation of affective factors in junior middle school learners, including higher-points learners andlower-points learners. This thesis will also investigate into the current situation of teachers’ teachingmethods in order to find out better methods to improve students’ English learning.
  


  1.3 An Overall Structure of the Thesis论文的总体结构
  This thesis is composed of the following six chapters.Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction to the motivations and objectives of the thesis and points out thenecessity of concerning affective factors of the learners. In addition, it briefs the overall structure of thepaper.Chapter 2 reviews some research results on affective factors of previous researchers in languagelearning abroad and at home.Chapter 3 outlines the objectives and design of the study, research questions, research participants,research methods and procedures, means of data collection and analysis.Chapter 4 presents the results and discussion for the learners’ affective factors between higher-pointsand lower-points learners.Chapter 5 presents some pedagogical implications and suggestions of English teaching in juniormiddle schools.Chapter 6 presents some major findings based on the results of the investigation and has a conclusionabout this thesis.
