Chapter One Introduction


背诵作为中国传统的学习方法被广泛地在中国实行。它在语言学习中起着积极的作用,通过学生背诵了大量的语言材料,以获得足够的语言输入他们的中国留学生。它也适用于英语学习。在英语写作教学和学习的非英语专业的学生,在中国现有的不理想的情况,笔者将结合文本朗诵,探索出一条有效的方法来提高写作能力的基础上,非英语专业的学生英语写作理论和实验。Recitation as a traditional Chinese learning method is extensively practiced in China. Itplays an active role in language learning, through which students memorize a great manylanguage materials to get sufficient language input for their Chinese studying. It is alsoapplicable to English learning. In view of the unsatisfactory situation of English writingteaching and learning of non-English major students existing in China, the author willcombine text recitation with English writing to explore an effective method to improve thewriting proficiency of non-English major students on the basis of theories and experiments.


1.1 Research Background
拓展全球通信和信息时代的到来,英语已成为中国越来越重要。正如我们所知道的,在世界上的邮件超过70%的书面英语;超过70%,世界的科学出版物都以英文出版,约60%的世界各地的电台节目中英文;大部分国际会议在英国举行的(90%以上),英语也是联合国的正式工作语言。总之,在国际政治,军事,经济,科技以及文化,贸易,交通运输等领域,英语是重要的沟通工具。随着中国的对外开放,科学技术的进步,和国际地位的持续改善的持续扩张,它是急需掌握中国的英语,尤其是的祖国大学的学生谁负责中国的“4现代化的支柱”和整个国家的发展。因此,学习英语具有重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。With the expansion of global communication and the coming of the information age,English has become more and more important in China. As we know, More than 70% of themails in the world are written in English; over 70% of the world’s scientific publications arepublished in English; about 60% of the radio programs around the world are in English; mostof the international conferences are held in English (more than 90%); English is also theofficial working language of the United Nations. In short, in the international political,military, economic, technological as well as cultural, trade, transportation and other fields,English is an important communication tool. With the continuous expansion of China’sopening up, scientific and technological advances, and the continuous improvement ofinternational status, it is urgent to master English for Chinese, especially for the pillars of themotherland—college students who are responsible for China’s “four modernizations” and thedevelopment of the whole country. Therefore, learning English has important practicalsignificance and far-reaching historical significance. As an indispensable means ofcommunication, writing in English grammatically and pragmatically proper is fundamentalfor competent college students. More and more Chinese college students are aware of theimportance of English writing, which has been applied both in the students’ college Englishstudy and their future work, for instance, to write compositions in exams, to completeacademic papers, to write experimental reports, even to write applications for jobs or studyingabroad.
However, the situation of college English teaching and learning for non-English major 2  students is unsatisfactory. Writing is a weak aspect in college English teaching. Non-Englishmajor students have English courses just in their first two years at college and have nospecialized writing courses. Most classes for non-English majors are quite large. Therefore,marking students’ compositions is a time-consuming task, which is a big burden to teachers.Teachers use less time to guide students’ English writing in class, and most English teachershave no English writing teaching plans.
