1.1 Background of the Study

Education need to meet the needs of writing and to keep a watchful eye on research anddiscussion of writing teaching.Improving the teaching of English writing is a requirement of college English curriculum reforms.College English Teaching Program, released by National Education Department, pointed that language skillis an important part of language communicative abilities (2007). Language skills, including listening,speaking, reading and writing, also require students to apply these skills comprehensively. It indicates that1) Students could express the private opinions of general themes; 2) Students could write the Englishabstract for the professional paper; 3) Students are required to have the ability to describe all kinds of charts;4) Writing an English composition in half an hour. 5) The
essay should have an intact contents and a clearlogic; 6) Students could write English essays which have relevant themes. Therefore we are clearing thatthe advanced writing education demands more writing style, content, logistic, language and writingstandard.It is believed that college students’ writing ability is one of the important abilities in English learningprocess. However, traditional English writing teaching does not embody the demand of College EnglishTeaching Program. Quite a few teachers try to teach grammar points as a main teaching aim but not to paymore attention in English writing. Writing – the part of Main Task – is always arranged at the end of eachunit, even as homework to let students do it by themselves, and teachers always has no time to evaluatehomework face to face. Other teachers teach little about writing strategies, but focus on grammar mistakesrather than coherence of whole essay. They even have no scientific and systematic methods. As students,they only care about grades. In the same way, a large amount of students pay more attention to reading.Some students even do not know how to improve their writing ability. These impertinent teaching methodslead to a negative effect of students who have a lower writing ability.

1.2 Purpose of the Study
Through the research of intensive reading-and-writing application, this paper wants to help teacher tofocus on the effective application of reading-and-writing
strategy as well as to help them to acquaint andunderstand this strategy. The value of this research is to conclude and summarize the method of intensivereading-and-writing application. This research will use a semester to practice students’ writing ability, andmake a conclusion of some effective teaching behaviors. Meanwhile, this research will summarize some relative strategies of intensive reading-and-writing application in order to provide some operable andreferential teaching processes for English teacher.During the research, the author will pay close attention to the change of students’ writing ability; at thesame time, the author will also rethink, and make a conclusion by analyzing cases to promote the effectivewriting. Finally the author will give an immediately feedback to improve the writing ability of freshman.
