4.1 Research Question One
Is CAI more helpful than the traditional instructional methods for students totake a positive attitude to their own learning, including goal-setting, plan-makingand self-assessment?In this part, it’s mainly to find out that whether CAI is more helpful for studentsto take a positive attitude to their own learning, including goal-setting, plan-makingand self-assessment? Autonomous learning is a kind of self-regulated learning. To do a self-regulatedlearning, there must be a Reference point used to guide students’ learning. The goalwill act as a reference point in the individual learning process.In the pre-questionnaire, items l-7 are concerned about the learning goal-settingand plan-making; the following tables show the results of the two classes students’choices percentage.In the table 4.1, item 1 shows that there are only 19% of the CC students can setlearning goal and there are 57% of the CC students cannot set their long-term orshort-term goals. And there also 55% CC students can’t set their learning goalswithout teachers’ help, which show in item2.

Conclusion

The intention of this study was to test whether CAI is effective for the HVCstudents to improve their autonomous learning ability by using the questionnaire andtest.The findings of this research were founded on the questionnaire survey and test,containing 110 HVC students come from two classes in the same grade inShijiazhuang Medical College. According to the analysis of the results of theresearch, the following conclusions summarized fundamental answers to the researchquestions.
1. The students’ autonomous learning ability is so poor before theexperiment.There are few students can accomplish their learning goals. That is to say,they didn’t do their best and setting-goal is meaningless to them.
2. The students haven't formed the habit of regular self evaluation and summarybefore the experiment.
3. Most students learn English passively before the experiment. Under thepressure on employment, students would work hard but their action is not active,which can not arouse an active motivation. So the most important task of teachers isto arouse students’ interest. Teachers should shift students’ motivation from thesurface to the deep stratum in order to improve students’ autonomous learningability.
