bsp;of English self-efficacy of non-English major ethnic minority college students is significant theoretically and practically. Theoretically, even though domestic studies on learners’ self-efficacy develop quickly, most of the research subjects are Han nationality students. Little attention is paid to the general tendency of minority college learners’ English self-efficacy, so this research expands the research domain of English learning self-efficacy. Besides, it provides some theoretical evidence to examine the English learning self-efficacy for ethnic minority college students to further explore. Practically, under the situation that teachers who engage in teaching English to minority college students do not attach importance to students’ self-efficacy, this research is to make a deep analysis on the English self-efficacy of minority college students, which helps them learn students’ current English self-efficacy level and pay more attention to how to develop students’ English self-efficacy.

2.1 Social Cognitive Theory
Since self-efficacy theory is grounded in a larger theoretical framework known as social cognitive theory, it is necessary to make an introduction on it first. Albert Bandura, American cognitive psychologist, developed a social cognitive model of behavior in 1986 in Social Foundations of Thought and Action: A Social Cognitive Theory, which developed from influence of self-system on individuals’ behavior. He proposed that individuals possess a self-system that enables them to exercise a measure of control over their thoughts, motivations, feelings and behaviors through selecting or controlling conditions in the environment. This self-system harbors individuals’ cognitive and affective structures and offer individuals reference to perceive, regulate and evaluate their behaviors, which is the interaction of self-system and environmental conditions (Bandura, 1986). According to social cognitive theory, individuals can self-regulate their behaviors proactively rather than are passively controlled by biological or environmental factors. Their action is mediated by self-referent thought through knowledge and skills. That explains why individuals’ action is better predicted by their belief of their capability and skills, which is called self-efficacy belief, lying at the very core of social cognitive theory.
