2.2 Studies on Formal Concept Analysis
The theory and approach of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is used in this thesis. It based on mathematics is put forward by Wille in 1982 (Ganter & Wille, 1999). With the help of formal concept methods, concept will be presented visually. In the phrase of concept formation, it is semiautomatic relying on human participation to identify objects and attributes. It is conducive to extract rules and mine data in many regards. Mao, Li and Lin (2010) introduce FCA as a data mining method in remote sensing image classification. Fang City of Hubei province is chose as the study object and it concludes that FCA is more adept at digging assortment rules. Liu, Hong, Zhang, Fan and Song (2010) bring in a visualization method for differential diagnosis in traditional Chinese medicine. The work constructs a Formal Context with symptoms as its objects and symptom elements as its attributes. Relationships between symptoms and symptom elements and symptoms themselves are clearly shown. The experiment suggests that in computer-aided study of traditional Chinese medicine FCA is promising for diagnosing diseases. Obitko, Vrba, Kadera and Jirkovsky (2011) make a research on industrial control system with regard to ontology. They devote to discovering knowledge from a concept lattice. The concept lattice born of formal concept is of great use in all apects study of ontology. Liu, Gao and Hu (2012) demonstrate the application of FCA in Information Science with the development of semantic web. Papers from 1989 to 2008 of Wuhan University information research center are selected as data source. Thesaurus of Information Science and Chinese Classification-Subjection Words List are supplemented as key words to build domain ontology in Information Science. The results demonstrate that in the future more attentions should be concentrated on the combination of FCA and construction of domain ontology.
