摘要:本文是高中英语教学论文,通过对实验数据的分析和讨论,研究结果发现,在英语阅读教学过程中有意识地使用衔接连贯理论对学生的阅读技巧进行训练可以更有效地改善学生的阅读兴趣;并且衔接连贯理论能有效的提高学生的阅读成绩。
important step in developing students’ overall language competence. However, it is not satisfying for students’ English reading learning to some degree now in senior high school. Therefore, the research is tries to apply a new teaching method—Cohesion and Coherence Theory to English reading teaching. Through applying the Cohesion and Coherence Theory, let students know cohesive devices and raise students’ interest of English reading. Along with the master of cohesive devices and coherence methods, the level of students’ reading comprehension is higher than ever. So the students’ reading achievement is enhanced. The purpose of the research is mainly reflected in the following aspects: firstly, it not only makes the students to master the necessary grammar and abundant vocabularies, but also let the students learn how to apply cohesive devices in reading comprehension to make the text coherent. Secondly, it can change the teachers’ teaching ideas, pay more attention to the process of English reading teaching and put into more time to cultivate the students’ reading ability. Thirdly, the research provides a theoretical basis on a practical method to guide students to use the cohesive devices to achieve text’s coherence. It is expected that the research can assist English teachers to have a good understanding on the importance of Cohesion and Coherence Theory.

Chapter Two Literature review
In this chapter, the
thesis will do a brief historical review concerning Cohesion and Coherence Theory, reading and the application of Cohesion and Coherence Theory to English reading teaching.
2.1 Cohesion and Coherence theory
At the beginning of the research, it is necessary to learn about the fundamental theoretical knowledge about Cohesion and Coherence Theory, which is the definition of Cohesion and Coherence Theory, cohesive devices, the related research on Cohesion and Coherence Theory. Jacobson is the earliest researcher who studies cohesion in 1960. He analyzes the syntactic structures and repetitions on parallel phenomenon in literature. Halliday (1962) is the first person to put forward the cohesion concept. Afterwards, the cohesion concept has been fully formulated by Halliady and Hasan in 1976. Halliday & Hasan (1976) consider that cohesion is the section of the text-forming component in the linguistic system.
