摘要:As English is a language used world-widely,it is very essential to cultivateChinese students' communicative ability. Among the four integrated skills of listening,reading, speaking and writing, writing is a productive one perhaps of the mostsignificance as well as challenge for Chinese senior high school students. It is alsotrue that writing is the very one that can best represent students' comprehensiveexpression ability and language proficiency.
Chapter IV Results and Discussion
4.1 Results
Referring to tons of studies on second language learners,errors caused bylanguage transfer, the author determines to classify the errors appearing in the subjectsof the senior high school students' English writings into the following majorcategories, that is,substance errors,lexical errors, grammatical errors, syntactic errorsand cultural errors. Firstly,the results from the sample writings deal with thedistribution and frequency of different sorts of errors, especially those caused byChinese negative transfer. Secondly,the results from the questionnaire reflect theawareness of the occurrence and causes of Chinese negative transfer in Englishwritings from the perspective of the students. Finally, the results from the interviewsgive further explanation for the causes of those errors from the teachers' point of view.

Conclusion
This thesis,founded on Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis and Error AnalysisHypothesis, is aimed to analyze errors made by Chinese senior high school students inEnglish writing with the ultimate end to figure out an effective solution to thisproblem.By adopting both qu^ititative and qualitative research methods, the authorcollects sample writings,designs questionnaire and conducts interviews. Through datacollection and data analysis of the senior high school students,sample writings, it isdiscovered that despite the existence of other factors,Chinese negative transfer is thedominant interferential factor for the errors. Distribution and frequency of the errorscaused by Chinese negative transfer are investigated and analyzed in great detail onthe levels of substance, lexis, grammar,syntax and culture. The questionnaire isdesigned on the basis of the analysis of the sample writings as a supplement to furtherinquire into the awareness of the occurrence and causes of Chinese negative transfer in English writing from the perspective of the students. The interviews are conductedto be expected to provide complementary explanation for the causes of those errorsfrom the teachers' point of view.The responses to the three research questions mentioned previously in the sectionof research design are as follows.
