摘要:在述评主要语篇连贯性理论的基础上,本研究提出,用体裁理论和主位发展理论一起分析语篇,可以更好地描述特定学术社团认可的连贯的语篇的特征。因为,语言运用的过程实际上就是实现语言社会职能的过程。

本研究进一步以雅思大作文为例,用体裁理论和主位发展理论对其连贯性特征作出分析。首先,以英语本族语者的雅思满分作文为标准,对其进行描述统计,得出英语本族语者作文连贯性的特征。然后将二语学习者不同分数段的作文与之比较,找出异同点。

它属于通信成功文本,是一种先进的语言能力,可以获得一定的话语共同体的接受和认可。这样一个先进的语言能力和教学计划,可以培养和提高英语学习者的语言水平,最近在这个日益全球化的世界,对附近的母语水平要求成为一种迫切需要。It is considered as an advanced language ability to write communicativelysuccessful texts which can gain acceptance and recognition by a certain discoursecommunity. Investigations of such an advanced language ability and design ofinstructional programs that would develop EFL learners towards high and near-nativelevels of language proficiency have recently become urgent in this increasinglyglobalised world.Statement of the ProblemNowadays,https://www.51lunwen.org/languagethesis/   there are few studies that have been designed to explain how such anadvanced language ability is actually embodied in language. The majority of scholarshave analysed EFL learners' texts in terms of decontextualised written language forms.But what their studies lack is an explanation of how a particular type of writingachieves its communicative purpose through its integral parts, such as Steps andMoves. Furthermore, these studies cannot explain how this entire genre is used toachieve its social purpose as a situated communicative practice (Freedman, 1987).Therefore, such studies cannot reveal the characteristics of communicativelysuccessful texts.A lack of appropriate descriptions of the essential characteristics of advancedlanguage use leads to scarcity of instructional models and teachers’ incompetence toteach towards advanced levels (Byrnes, 2002; Crane, 2003). As a result, the majorityof EFL students feel that "their only sense of security comes from what they havelearned about grammar” (Leki,1996, p.34) and that grammar is the only tool they canuse in writing English texts (Silva, 1992). This is one of the reasons why texts writtenby EFL learners are usually considered incoherent and rhetorically inappropriate bynative speakers of English.Ill view of the limitations of the existing studies on foreign language writing, thisstudy is intended to use genre theory and thematic progression theory to examine EFLlearners' texts in terms of manifestations of local coherence and global coherencewhich are considered indicators of communicatively effective and successflil texts.Rationale for the StudyCoherence and cohesion are examined through the lens of thematic progressiontheory and genre theory in this study. Genre theory and thematic progression theoryare employed together as the framework for the analysis of texts for the followingreasons.Genre theory describes coherence at a global level, and it captures the closerelationship between texts and the social situations in which these texts are producedand explains whether the texts are appropriate for the purposes of a specific situation.However, it lays no emphasis on coherence at a local level and it cannot explain whytexts with the same schematic structure sometimes are rated differently.Thematic progression theory explains the texture of the text and plays a veryimportant role in creating a coherent text at a local level. However, thematicprogression theory does not take into consideration the constraints of contextualvariables so it cannot explain why some seemingly coherent texts developing in acertain thematic progression pattern are actually incoherent.To sum up, genre analysis is a general framework.
