The studies on the translation of abstracts of academic papers focus on thefollowing four aspects:firstly,the first kind of studies,represented by Wang Gaosheng(2005),has compared English and Chinese abstracts on the micro level and discussedthe problems in translating abstracts from the aspects of lexical items,sentence pattern,voice,tense,person and discourse,after analyzing the errors in translation,some studiesput forward the main methods,techniques or strategies for translating abstracts.Thesekinds of studies probed into the main features of the abstract,such as the purpose,structure,and sentence pattern,and investigates the typical problems in theChinese-English translation of the abstracts through case analysis,sums up the basicskills or strategies of the English translation of abstracts,and puts forward somesuggestions to improve the quality of the translation of abstracts.It is pointed out thatsome studies discussed the problems in the English translation of abstracts from theoriginal defects of the abstracts,and that the translation of abstracts should follow theprinciple of accuracy and intuition,and the translation should be optimized from thelexical and sentence structure levels.For example,Zeng Jianping and Ye Wei Hua(2013)pointed out that it is possible to rewrite and reorganize the contents of the non-standardoriginal abstracts,to make the translation conform to the expression habits of the targetlanguage.The above studies mainly discussed the problems existing in themicro-language level of translation abstracts through the comparative analysis ofChinese and English abstracts,and there are many such achievements.The specificanalysis has a certain guiding significance for the practice of translation abstracts,andsome translation skills and strategies are also of considerable reference value for thetranslation of abstracts.

2.2 Valency pattern

2.2.1 Pattern grammar

Hornby(1995)first put forward the pattern in his book Guide to Patterns andUsage in English.While agreeing that analytical grammar is meaningful,he emphasizedthat learners should pay more attention to sentence construction.Learners should besensitive to English sentence patterns,and be able to skillfully place words in a complete sentence and match them correctly.He believes that when learning a word,weshould not only learn the pattern of the word but also pay attention to the meaning of theword.
