摘要:本论文是从提升学习者自我效能感的角度来探求一种增进非英语专业学生英语学习自主性的有效途径。随着科技的迅猛发展,终身学习和终身教育成为了社会的主导学习理念。越来越多的人开始意识到自主学习的重要性,并将之作为教育的终极目标。

从学习者自我效能感看英语自主学习性

在中国外语教学环境中,有效提升非英语专业学生的英语自我效能感确实是增强其英语学习自主性的一条有效途径。最后,文章讨论了本研究的教学意义,以及在我国当前的教育环境下能有效提升学习者自我效能感的教学策略。


Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Lifelong learning is the survival concept of the 21st century.To enable the students to reach the goal of self-education and lifelong learning,schools and educators should go beyond teaching intellectual skills to foster learner autonomy to learn by themselves throughout a lifetime.As part of the whole educational process,foreign language teaching must highlight the promotion of learner autonomy,which is an essential element for life-long learning process.
Early in 1980s,Holec proposed“the goal of foreign language teaching should include two aspects:to develop learners’language competence and communicative competence;to help learners to be autonomous,that is,to help them to learn independently.”(Holec,1981) Nowadays developing learner autonomy is an important target in the world.
English,as a global language,becomes more and more important and useful for communication all over the world.It’s obvious that English has great influence on many aspects of human life,but how to learn English more effectively is a long-lasting issue among English educators and learners.Traditional Chinese language teaching remains didactic, product-oriented,and teacher-centered;which restricts the development of English teaching in China.More and more passive,reluctant,and uncooperative learners are“cultivated”by the traditional“spoon-feeding”teaching method.Influenced by this method,many college students over-depend on their teachers to help them decide what to do,how to do and then just remember what their teachers told them.They don’t have the autonomy of learning.To improve the situation,variety of teaching methods and educational theories are adopted to improve Chinese FLT in different periods.For a long time,great efforts have been put on the content of English instruction but little attention to learners.In fact,learners’psychological factor,such as self-efficacy takes a great effect on their learning.Self-efficacy,a key core of SCT,is regarded as individuals’confidence in their ability to control their thoughts,feelings,and actions,and therefore influence the outcome.(Bandura,1986)
With the development of English educational revolution,a wide range of ideas and suggestions have been presented aiming to improve learners’English competence and autonomy.Learner autonomy is listed as one of the objectives in the newly drawn-up CECR (College English Curriculum Requirements),which provides the guidelines for college English teaching.Besides,learner autonomy is regarded as a key indicator to the successful teaching reform.What’s more,with the rapid developments in technology,internet and multiMedia networks have walked into the campus and shown vigorous vitality.More and more tape-recorders,video-recorders,faxes, photocopiers,TV sets,computers,e-mails,e-magazines and newspapers,language labs are being applied to the teaching of English.Internet learning has become a mode of fashion in universities.Such Net-based,multimedia-aided teaching and learning mode elongates the time and extends the space in the process and thus creates a more fertile environment for autonomous learning.Under the circumstances,learner autonomy is of vital importance.
