Conclusion


This study has made some progress for exploring English achievement in twoaspects--English learning anxiety and metacognitive strategies. Although the researchconducted is successful to obtain the findings to the four research questions and will bringsome practical values, there are also some drawbacks in the present study and leaves room forfurther investigations.In the first place, samples. The participants of this research are Independent Collegestudents in Applied Science College of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. Theyare 181 non-English sophomores randomly selected from seven majors in the same college.The samples are lack of representativeness which may affect the preciseness of the findingsand the results of the present study may not be generalized to the national. The future researchcan make a larger sample to be more reliable.
In the second place, instruments. Although this study has conducted many kinds ofstatistical analysis in regulating the occasions in which the questionnaires are administrated,the results is still far from comprehensive because of English learning anxiety being acomplex and multidimensional construct only skimmed the surface in this study. Theadministration of questionnaire is strictly controlled under the classroom teacher's instruction,and various possible factors, such as their psychological and environmental factors, mayinfluence their responses' truth.
