摘要:This chapter mainly concludes the major findings of this study, points out itsimplications, shows the limitations and puts forward suggestive ways for furtherresearch.
f developing vocational technical education is to fosterthe students' talent and to satisfy the increasing social needs. This study concludesthat CL can not only improve the students' verbal English and business negotiationabilities but also enhance their motivation, alleviate their English language anxiety,improve their class participation and develop their English language apprehension aswell. Consequently, whether CL can be applied to such practical courses as BENC ornot should be taken into consideration.
5.3 Limitations of the study & suggestions for furtherresearch
This study generates practical results of CL. Though it contributes toinvestigating the effect of CL in higher vocational technical colleges, it is not perfect.We have to say that the research domain is not fully explored and flirther research isneeded.First, there are only 81 participants. The small sample size to some extentrestricts the persuasiveness of the result. And all participants come from the samecollege. The result of the study simply de
notes the comparison. The questionnaire onthe students' negotiation abilities has been tested twice, the students may feel dull.Thus there are other features which remain unknown and the representative of thisstudy may not comprehend. Due to its limitations, the same study can be simulatedwith a larger sample size, which would generate a more typical result. In order toavoid the monotonousness of the same questionnaire, the order of some items can bechanged in the post-test.Second, the test time is limited. The first week was spent on course design andresearch design such as, interviews, design and administration of the questionnaires,pre- and post-tests. Therefore, due to the time limit, the course was taught for lessthan four months. Stability of the course was not ensured. It would be more effectiveif the experiment is conducted in a longer time span.Third, the researcher herself is not very qualified for data analyses. Negotiationabilities involve several abilities, such as communicative ability, negotiation strategies,psychological quality and so on. If given more time and energy, further research willbe carried on to investigate to what extent CL has positive effects on differentnegotiation abilities.In conclusion, BENC is a practical course with strong application in HVTC.Good teaching methods need empirical support. CL fits the education's powerfiilpractice in HVTC and can make up the traditional teaching disadvantages. It iscommendable to spread CL in higher vocational technical colleges in China.Hopefully, the outcome of this study can encourage more teachers to explore newteaching practice for students' effective learning.
