Firstly of what we conclude about the affects of the economic meltdown of Dubai as a city and as a modern metropolitan of the world and how the international meltdown has influenced the meltdown of Dubai and secondly we conclude the affects of this meltdown on Emaar as a company and on its campaign to be one of the largest real estate developers in the world.

Firstly when we conclude about Dubai as a city, we reckon that Dubai has undergone a huge change in the past one and a half decade. Dubai has never been an oil city like Abu-Dhabi Dubai always earned its revenues from ports and port related activities. Until the late nineties when companies like Emaar opened up Dubai was surviving on the afore mentioned businesses. Although there certainly was a feeling of richness in the city because there was a significant trickle down affect of money from Abu-Dhabi. It was in the mid nineties when the shape of Dubai started changing and there was a sudden boom.

The city suddenly started receiving foreign investments and the royal family of the city started developing the overall conditions prevailing within the city. The infrastructure of the city was completely changed. It started getting the best equipments to improve its overall looks and the basic amenities available to the common man were drastically improved and as time passed the city started on a campaign of real estate boom.

The city by the early 2000’s could boast of providing some of the best residential facilities and basic amenities supported by world class infrastructure. Many large organisations, multinational companies started to develop their head quarters for the gulf area and the Middle East itself in Dubai.

Companies like Emaar were earning huge money and they were on a spree of making the best in class luxurious residential complexes, malls hospitality centres, hotels etc in Dubai. One can say that this boom came to a halt with the inauguration of Burj Khalifa the tallest building of the world.

With the inauguration of Burj-Khalifa people realised that the boom that the city had undergone in the past decade had put the city and its developers under the debt of over a 100 billion dollars.

Although Dubai was lucky enough to avoid the global meltdown but it was suddenly facing its own personal meltdown.

The city turned to help from Abu Dhabi which was not so helpful either, and due to the heavy internal control by the royal families the city could also not hope to turn for help to the western countries which themselves at the point were facing the wrath of their own global meltdown.

As far as Emaar is concerned Emaar although just being barely 15 years old has achieved what many have not been able to achieve in half a decade. The company can proudly call itself the father of the modern Dubai. It has changed Dubai into one of the most sought after cities in the world. Dubai is now a major city of the world which represents the whole of Middle East just because of the extra-ordinary achievements of companies like Emaar. Emaar has changed the definition of the very word called luxury.

It has produced some of the best luxury homes in Dubai and in whole of Middle East. It has contributed to some of the best malls and hotels of Dubai and it has redefined ease and luxury in such hospitality centre.
