摘要:Although peer feedback is supported by several theoretical frameworks, whichincludes process writing, collaborative learning, Vygotsky’s theory of Zone of ProximalDevelopment, and interaction and second language acquisition, conflicting findingshave been reported about its usefulness and effectiveness. In view of this, this empiricalstudy was an attempt to explore the effects of peer feedback on L2 argumentativewriting of English majors in China.In particular, it examined the extent to whichpeer feedback could exert an impact on student’s overall writing quality. In addition,this paper tried to measure the characteristics of peer feedback among ChineseEnglish majors, including the ratio of incorporation and revision types.

Conclusion
This part firstly summarizes the major findings of present research,then itdiscusses its pedagogical implications for the EFL writing,and finally it ends withhe limitations of the study and some suggestions for the future research.Summary of the Major FindingsThe use of peer feedback in the writing process begins in L1 writing. And itsusefulness as a technique for L1 writing pedagogy is well documented in theliterature (Barnes 1976; Brief 1984; Forman& Cazden, 1985).However, the study ofpeer feedback in L2 writing did not spring up until 1980s. In addition, the results ofrelevant researches are not in consistent with each other. Therefore, more researchesare needed in this topic.To begin with, the findings in the present study indicates that the effect of peerfeedback is a facilitating and profitable one, in that peer feedback is helpful inimproving the students overall writing ability in a new piece of writing.Besides, thestudents may reach a similar level in English writing with the help of peer feedback.That is, with the application of peer feedback, the gap of writing proficiency amongthe students will be greatly reduced.
