Chapter 5 Data Analysis and Discussion

5.1 The Students’Attitudes towards Peer Feedback

The results comes from the pre-questionnaire and post questionnaire of the studentsand the interview with five students in the experimental groups. The author explain thequestion from three aspect: the students’ overall attitudes towards peer feedback, thestudents’ attitude towards the activities in the process of peer feedback and the students’attitudes towards the ability of his own and peers’ on giving peer feedback.There are four questions in the pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire are set forstudents on the general attitudes towards on peer feedback, the results shown in Table 1.In table 1, the number of the students who like participate in peer feedback is 13which account for 32.5% of all the students, 11 students did not like peer feedback whichaccount for 27.5%, 16 students have no idea. In the post-test questionnaires, the numberof people who hold the positive attitudes towards peer feedback increased to 28,accounting for 70% of all the students. And p(0.001) <0.01, it indicates that the attitudesof students towards peer feedback in the post-questionnaire has a significant differenceswith the attitudes of the students towards peer feedback. For the question 2, whether thepeer feedback can make you uncomfortable or not, there are 17 students in thepre-questionnaire think it can make them uncomfortable, but in the post-questionnaire,the number of the students is 6, that indicates the students’ attitudes towards peerfeedback has become better after the experiment of the peer feedback.

Conclusion

The method of questionnaire, experiment and interview is used in this research, after8 weeks of the application of peer feedback in the classroom of Chinese senior highschool, some findings and implications is stated in this chapter.After 8 weeks of research, most of the student hold positive attitude towards thepeer feedback and the students activities in the process of the peer feedback. And theyhave believed in the revising ability of them and their peers. The students are in highlevels and low levels hold negative attitudes towards the peer feedback. Some students inhigh levels think that their peers cannot give the constructive suggestions on theircompositions. They think they have not benefited from the activities of the peer feedback.Some students in low levels think they cannot understand the revision given by otherpeers, and they think they have not the ability of giving revision on other peer’scompositions. On the attitudes towards the activities, most students are inclined to readother students compositions rather than let other peers read his or her own compositions.But this phenomenon have changed after the experiment of the peer feedback. On theability of revision, most students think they can objectively giving revision on otherpeers’ compositions, and they can find the advantages and disadvantages of other peers’compositions. All of this shows that student have believed in the ability of revising.
