anguage learning gave birthto research on contrastive analysis, especially error analysis.During the late 1960s to early 1970s, scholars changed their interests and stress to theanalysis of language errors. It can be divided into two parts: one is caused by the influenceof the mother tongue; while the other is not caused by the mother tongue. It also can bedivided as mistakes and errors. During the learning of a second language for a learner,mistakes occur once in a while; errors occur regularly. In 1965, Chomsky had expoundedabout the nature of mother tongue acquisition which provided a new theoretical foundationfor the research for the SLA. Chomsky thinks that it is impossible to explain two factsusing behaviourist theory. First, children can use language creatively; second, even in theenvironment with shortcomings, children also can gain language in system.

Chapter Two Theoretical Framework

In this chapter, the author wants to list the theories associated with the study. And theauthor also wants to review these theories about their study history and the studyconditions nowadays. The aim is to let people have a general idea about the study.

2.1 Language Transfer
The word “transfer” derived from the Latin word “transferre’’，means “to carry”，“tobear” or “to print，impress or otherwise copy from one surface to another" (Webster'sThird New World International Dictionary，1986.) As in the field of study, this wordmeans one person leams something from other persons, a group learns something fromother groups. The knowledge is spread from one to others. That is one of the mostimportant method for people to study.C. Wolf first came up with the word “transfer,’ in the Formal Discipline Theory. Inthis theory. Wolf mentioned the word when he discussed his study to people. WhileWhitney first used this word when he talked about the cross-linguistic influence.Transfer is an important key word in the history of SLA even started before theresearch of SLA. “Transfer" comes from behavioral psychology. And Lado came upwith this word firstly in his Cross Cultural Linguistics. Sharwood Smith and Kellermanbelieve that transfer is a cross-linguistic influence. While the theory of behaviorism thinksthat transfer, the habit of thinking in a mother tongue influences the study of SLA. Whenthe mother tongue is the same as SLA or familiar with SLA，mother tongue can promotethe study of SLA. Otherwise while mother tongue is different from the target language, itwill interfere SLA study.
