摘要:As illustrated above, the second language learners in junior high-school face lots ofdifficulties in dealing with negative transfer factors in syntax of native language in the secondlanguage acquisition, so analysis syntactic errors and seek the better and efficient strategies toreduce the influence of native language in syntax is needed.

Without arguing that negative transfer in syntactical level are the prominentphenomena in the second language learning process and the research areas can be involved inbehaviorist psychology, cognitive psychology, contrastive analysis and error analysis. In studythe errors caused by negative transfer of native language, Dulay and Burt’s(1974) researchshowed that only 3%of the errors were caused by the native language transfer: howeverothers showed 33%(Ellis,2001). Tran ChiChau(1 975)found that the Chinese learners’ was51%. We can see that it is a universal phenomenon that the mother tongue has a negativeinfluence on the foreign language learning. Mentioning to language transfer, it is a widespreadpoint of view that the phenomena of language transfer is existence in each language,meanwhile, concerning with the syntactical level of linguistic transfer, and it can be definedthat transfer concentrates on the phonological, lexical, syntactic and semantic levels. As statedabove, the study in language transfer has been achieved in great improvement in many fieldsboth in China and abroad. Certain elements of second language are more likely to betransferred than others has been noted by such researchers as Gass, and Selinker.

2.2 The Study of Negative Transfer of Syntax at Home
In China, there has been the great achievement in language transfer from negativeaspects; the researches are involved in phonology, lexicon, syntax, and discourse and otheraspects of language. Guo Wei and Han Xiaohui (2002) explored the function of it concerningwith the Universal Grammar and study the existence of native language transfer and degreeinfluenced by native language. Language transfer has attracted more and more researchers andlearners to study in this subject. The main representatives are as follows: Liu Donghong (2002)studied the influence of the sophomores’ mother tongue on their writing from the perspectiveof native language strategy. Tang Chengxian (2003) explored the native language transfer inthe SLA. Jin Jiling (1992) and Chen Jianpin (1992) point out the differences of Chinesetopic—prominence structures in the learners’ English writings. In Jin Jiling and Chen Jianpin’view, the structures of Chinese is very different from English, however, the differences of twolanguage causes the syntactic errors. According to their view about langue transfer, we cansee the negative transfer in syntactical level are the prominent problem in the second languageacquisition, and the arguing about language transfer has become the center topic in appliedlinguistic.
