Diversity, Social Justice and Schooling, and Social Justice in Secondary Schooling 

Deconstruction of a social justice incident:
Consequently, the context of diversity is very essential in the teaching and learning process, specifically in secondary schools. It is because of the notion that knowledge is considered as a personal thing which comes from the personal experience of an individual. Such personal experiences can be encountered in different form of social institutoins and also work contexts such as the universities, departmental disciplines as well as the professional organisations. In modern Chinese secondary schools, it can be noted that learning are being affected by diversities.  The secondary education of china seems ot have complex history and background. In the early 1960s, the education system has been following a policy called "walking on two legs," that generated both regular academic schools as well as separate technical schools for vocational training.
The fast xpansion of secondary education in times of Cultural Revolution has generated serious problems; since sources were thinly spread the educational quality had declined. In addition, such expnasion has confined and limited as compated with regular secondary schools; During those times, technical schools were closed during because they were perceived as an attempt to give and offer inferior education to children of worker as well as peasant families.
In China, a senior-middle-school graduate has been noted as an educated person, even if middle schools are perceived as training ground for colleges and universities. Since secondary school is considered to be training grounds for individuals, different students can experience different things during ths period. They can experience emotional upheaval, new burden from new tasks, emerging sexuality and also their own discovery through the journey to being an adult (Lines, 2009).
Consequently, it is in secondary and middle schools that students are being prepared with bigger roles and responsibilities in the future.  It is said that most students faced with lots of requirements expectations, risks and threats whic are more intensified  and difficult.  Chinese secondary schools reflect the dominant discourses operating in oriental culture.  Consequently, one of the discourse faced by Chinese secondary school is about racism in schools which can affect the interpersonal relationship, academic performance and also general outlook on Chinese students as well as other students with different race. (Mclean Donaldson, 1996).

 

Identification of Incidents:
The following incident was noticed in one of the multicultural classrooms in China. One female student (Student A) has been a transferee from one school, and she entered a classroom where the other students have known each other. The student is new in China and so she barely understand Chinese language.   The teacher introduced the girl to other students and mentioned that she is still new hence, they should treat her well Student B asked Student A in their native language which the latter didn’t understand.  Other students can be seen to control their laughter, because for them the question is really easy to answer.
