Conclusion

Due to the limitation of time, personal energy, size of corpora, the current study hasthe limitations in few aspects:
Firstly, the relatively small size of corpora in this study may affect thegeneralizations on LR writing in English M.A. theses. The corpora in this study consist of 30 LRs, which may not big enough to present all the features of LR writing. Hence,further study like the present one can be conducted with larger corpora from moreauthorized sources. The findings can describe more features on LR by Chinese graduatesand American graduates.
Secondly, the study mainly focuses on M.A. theses writing in applied linguistics.The application of the results and findings is restricted to some specific field. With theincreasing emergence of interdisciplinary researches, future study can examine multipledisciplines to check the applicability of generic structure of this study and findcross-disciplinary differences.
