摘要:Teachers’ beliefs have the close relationship with learners and teaching practices.Therefore, it is very urgent and essential to provide the specific definition English teacher’sbeliefs in teaching process.

ut learners, beliefs about teaching and belief about teaching as a profession.In the interview and observations, some teachers describe their own beliefs as follows:Teacher A states that English grammar is the most important part in English teaching.But it is also the most difficult for students to master in fine arts academies. She believesthat English grammar is the basic part in English learning, although interest is the best wayto learn English.She says“In fine arts academies, most of students are very poor in English. They feelvery difficult to learn English. But they are willing to learn English well; they study andtake notes seriously in class. They always manage to take part in the classroom activitiespositively. ”In her class, she focuses on the grammar and exercises. She thinks it is the bestway to improve English. In addition, she suggests teachers in HAFA should learn moreknowledge of fine arts under this context. It is necessary to learn the psychological andpedagogical courses. If possible, the young teachers should attend the professional meetingabout English teaching beliefs and methods as much as possible. As for the belief about thestudents, she believes that students are teachers’ partners. Teacher should treat his studentsfriendly. It is critical for teachers to build up the good relation with the students.

Conclusion


Teachers’ teaching beliefs about English education are similar in fine artsacademies. They all agree that interest is the best way to learn English; and the importantthing is to arouse the students’ interest to learn English. On the other hand, Englishlanguage education in fine arts academies has long been predominated by teacher-centerbelief and teaching practices. One shortage of this tradition is depressing skillfulness inspoken English despite years of learning. It has become more necessary than every beforeto speak in English owing to globalization. It seems to have been a must-be for students inarts. Both positive and negative aspects of the teaching beliefs are revealed through thesubstance of what the teachers said. It is by common consent among all 6 teachers thatteachers’ teaching beliefs should be renewing with the changing and development ofEnglish education in fine arts academies.
