摘要:Verb is one of the main elements of making sentences, which is thought to be mostimportant in learning English grammar. Though students of higher technical and vocationalcolleges have been studying English for over eight years, some of them cannot use Englishcorrectly or communicate successfully with others in English.

ior knowledge.In 1932, Fredrick Bartlett, the British psychologist, is the first psychologist using theterm schema in his class study of how human memory works. He thinks that schema wasmade up of people’s prior knowledge. By doing a lot of experiments, Bartlett found thatschema was a kind of cognitive constructs which is to help people understand newexperiences, and schema can be composed by the past experience. In Fredrick Bartlett’s bookremembering, Bartlett (1932) defined the term “schema” as “an active organization of pastreactions or past experiences, which must always be supposed to be operation in anywell-adapted organic response”.In 1967, psychologist Piaget began using schema to explain the development ofchildren’s cognition. Piaget thinks that new knowledge is a linear process that information isattached to the existing information in the brain, and everyone has their own schema. InPiaget’s theory, he thinks that children adopt a series of schemata to understand the world.The modern schema theory came into being in the middle of 1970s, and therepresentative figures were Rumelhart, R.C.Anderson, Nunan, Cook.In the late of 1970s, American artificial intelligence expert D.E.Rumelhart did a lot ofresearch on the schema, and he put forward the schema theory. Rumelhart (1982) describesschema theory as follows, “Schema theory is a theory about how knowledge is mentallyrepresented in the mind and used. According to schema theories, all knowledge is packagedinto units that called schemata.” The schema helps us to organize and understand newinformation, and it is helpful for us to make inference about conception.

2.2 Teaching of Grammar
Grammar is commonly defined as a system of rules governing the conventionalarrangement and relationship of words in a sentence. Specifically, it is a branch of linguisticsdealing with the form and structure of words (morphology) and their interrelation in sentences(syntax) (Tian, 2006). English grammar teaching is an important part in English teaching.Some linguists think that grammar teaching is the core of foreign language teaching. Thegrammar teaching’s aim is to help students grasp the law of language and better understandand use the language. Here are the main approaches in English Grammar Teaching. Five hundreds years ago, Latin was as a foreign language course in schools in Europe.The Classical Method was adopted as the chief method to teach foreign languages. In thenineteenth century, this classical foreign language teaching method are named as the grammartranslation method, and this method was accepted as the main method for foreign languageteaching in schools. Students learned foreign language by learning its grammatical rules andword variations. (H.D.Brown, 2002).
