As an experienced translator, Zhu Zhenwu placed luxuriantadditional annotations to fulfill the gap between local audiences and the imaginaryworld. So, annotations of Angels &Demons are complicated and comprehensive.Although the literature reviews in chapter two has offered some scholars'classifications and theories, the past experiences and standards cannot be applied to thisfiction. In face of these diversified annotations in this fiction, the present thesis attemptsto provide a distinct measure of classification. Meanwhile, it also attempts to prove howthick translation and paratext enlighten these annotations from theoretical aspect.

4.1 Classification network
For this fiction, there are 88 footnotes in the text. Annotations are composed of allof these footnotes. On account of discussing the applications and effects of the twotheories through the examples, the classification measure will be formed under theprinciples of the two theories.
