Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development:
On completion of New Venture Creation students will:
• Be competent in researching critical issues relating to new venture creation
• Have developed comprehensive skills in business and life planning
• Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the requirements for sustaining and growing a new venture
• Become competent in understanding and managing critical relationships with key stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, distributors and financials backers
• Develop skills in understanding and managing organisational dynamics
• Be comfortable in operating in dynamic environments
• Have a thorough understanding of what it takes to start a new venture
• Be able to demonstrate creative and innovative approaches regarding idea conceptualisation, opportunity recognition, leveraging limited resources and working under stress and short time cycles
• Have a comprehensive understanding of environmental factors that influence the success (or not) of a new venture
• Be competently able to undertake the business planning process in launching a new venture

Overview of Learning Activities
• Key learning methodologies may include individual, adult and group learning strategies as well as student–directed learning and expert lecturers on specific topics. Course delivery may include lectures, workshops, tutorials, discussions and presentations
• Learning activities will involve research and critical analysis as well as assessment and evaluation of key business development activities
• Students will need to access the Online Learning Hub on a regular basis
This course will provide you and your class with the opportunity to receive industry feedback on your learning activities or assessment tasks.

Details of Learning Activities
You will undertake a variety of learning activities in NVC including conducting in-depth research, client reporting, class presentations, workshops and peer-to-peer learning.
• Group 1 (Venture Launch)- The key learning methodology for New Venture Creation is based on the principle ‘if you do it, then you will know’. The methodology will include individual, adult and group learning strategies as well as student–directed learning and expert lecturers on specific topics.

Course delivery will be primarily in the form of instructor facilitated, student focused presentation and discussion workshops. This being the capstone course in Entrepreneurship, the basic assumption is that students have the requisite ‘content’ knowledge and that the facilitator’s role is to assist students to access that knowledge and utilise it to complete a new venture Feasibility Study and create a new business. The primary objectives will be the development of awareness of knowledge and skill gaps and potential for improvement. Accordingly, students are expected to attend classes regularly and actively participate in class discussions and read highlighted portions of the recommended text. Learning activities will involve research and critical analysis as well as assessment and evaluation of key business development activities.
