duce scientific theories and advanced teaching means into class by utilizing information technology to reform the conventional teaching mode. What is the basic theory of utilizing information technology during the English teaching? The aims we pursue are only a change on the surface of teaching? Obviously not. I think the basic theory of the application of information technology during the English teaching should be summarized three respects as follows:
(1).The class should be a place where the students should be active English learners, who are full of vigor and originality.
There are two problems: One is about teaching, the other one is about the positive role of the students during English learning. The popularity of medium technology and network skill offer an opportunity to our contextual teaching during English class and inject vigor into our English class. I think it must be better if we make the students think about the English language by situating them in a fixed language context. Take the software of Hongen “Learning English from Zero” for example, the context of English learning was projected vigorously and rich in originality by utilizing the information technology. The CD is made by Hongen, including pictures, words, voices, and acting which makes every students’ sense organs stimulated and their activity for learning are improved and their main role can be brought into play, which is good for improving their language ability.
(2).Developing their capability of dealing with information efficiently.
Nowadays, if a student does not grasp the information skill in time, he will not adjust to the future age. “Computer skill should be learned from little young” Deng Xiao ping said. The utilizing of information skills during English class not only help the students learn English but also develop a kind of consciousness of them and develop the capability of grasping information technology, especially, the capability of searching information from network efficiently and the capability of choosing and managing information. But we must get the essence from it and abandon the dross in order to make the students have a wide visual field.
(3).The advanced software of English learning enrich the students’ study strategy.
For example, “Li Yang Crazy English”, “Mouth Shape of English Teacher” and so on. A series of excellent teaching software make the way of learning English become abundant, but the teachers must do the job of guide and recommendation well at the right moment.
4. English teaching need adopt scientific way of evaluation.
(1).For many years, we have adopted a single way of evaluation, written examination is the dominant way of evaluation during English teaching.
Nowadays as the penetration of character education and the development of reforming in examination, the examination for entering university and the examination for entering high school both have carried out listening test. For the whole nation, most of examinations are written ones in normal times. We always concentrate on evaluating the result of study, but we ignored the evaluation of the process of learning English and the evaluation in a group. Chen Yukun, an professor in Hua Dong Teachers’ University said, “The efficiency of our English teaching is low and the application of our English teaching is not strong, which are related to the teaching evaluation.” So it is necessary for us to continue to study the problem of evaluation during the English teac
